Was It the Chocolate Pudding?
By Lucy, Age 9
In most of the books I read I didn’t feel seen. But when I read, Was It the Chocolate Pudding? by Sandra Levins, I felt finally seen. It talked about kids with divorced parents. I felt truly connected to the kids in the story. In the story, the kids acted out by putting chocolate pudding on the wall and the dad laughed but the mom yelled. Then they had a fight in front of the children and they felt sad. I can connect to them because when my parents fought, I felt very sad and I could not sleep. Next in the story the mom leaves them and the kids are very sad. Also when my parents got divorced, I was crying and also mad. The kids thought it was their fault. I also felt that way. This book taught me that other people are going through the same thing and that we can connect.
