Unexpected Changes

By Luke, Age 11

I was in third grade at the time this happened. One day my dad picked me up from school. We were in the car when the radio was on and there were people talking. ‘’The corona virus has killed over 5,000 people!’’

“What’s that?” I asked my dad.

“It’s a new virus that is killing people in China.”

Over the next couple weeks, everybody had heard about the corona virus.

“The virus has escaped China!”

“The virus has left Asia!”

“The virus has made it to the U.S.!”

Everybody was a shaken-up bottle. Then one day, an announcement came on the loudspeaker: “Teachers, talk to your students about what we talked about.” The teacher said, “Due to covid safety we will be taking 2 weeks off of school and we will come back after.” Everybody went home. After the two weeks were up, we got news that we would not be coming back to school for the rest of the year. Even the next year we were doing school from home on our computers for almost all the year. Now I’m in 5th grade, and we’re back at school, but we must wear masks and social distance.

It’s all covid’s fault.
