Tulip reflections

By Agnia, age 11

It was a lovely Sunday afternoon. My dad and I went on a bike ride together. The sun was shining and a few little birds were crossing the sky. The flowers were blooming all around me.  But I wasn’t thinking about the beauty that surrounded me. Coronavirus was the only thing on my mind.

On Wednesday we were going to start distance learning. I’ve never done home learning before, and I knew that I would miss my friends so much!

Me and my dad rode past our school. I saw the tulips that me and my class planted together. These tulips were so beautiful. Seeing them made me think of my class and the fun that we had together.

“Thank god that we still have two days at school!” I thought to myself. I hoped to make the most out of these two days. If only I knew that I wouldn’t.

When we returned home, my mom walked over to me.

“The school just texted me, the distance learning starts tomorrow,” my mom said. This was shocking news that made me wanna cry. But I smiled and nodded, crying wouldn’t help. I knew I was going to get through this.
