The Roller Coaster

By Avery, age 12

The pandemic started in fourth grade. I was full of emotions. My family was supposed to go on vacation, but we couldn’t. The past 2 years has been like riding a roller coaster. I had moments that I was excited like getting to sit at home and relax. However, that excitement only lasted for a short period of time.  That’s when things changed… wearing masks, virtual learning, and not seeing family.   It felt like it was never going to end.  After a couple months things started to finally improve. We didn’t have to do virtual learning, I was able to see family, and I got used to wearing masks. I was overjoyed when the vaccinations were available for my family. However, before my entire family could get vaccinated, we got Covid. All of us were quarantined. THAT WAS THE WORST! We even lost an extended family member.  Again, like a roller coaster.  There have been moments of joy and moments of sorrow.  But, no matter what, I have my family and friends to help me get through this tough time.  I am hopeful that life will get back to what it was before Covid.
