The importance of family time

By Alethea, age 11

August, 2021. We decided that we need to get out of the house. We went to a beautiful island.  We had a picnic and played in a GIANT park on the first day. Then, we found our cozy cottage and started unpacking.  We later went to a beautiful waterfall and we took lots of pictures and videos. My brother felt sick. his stomach hurt, and he threw up. My dad decided to go back to our cottage. We missed our chance to go horseback riding. Then my mom got sick, my dad decided that we shouldn’t go anywhere for the rest of our trip, So we didn’t. We made soup and watched movies. The only time we ever went out was to get more gatorade. 3 days passed. Then, my dad got a fever, it was up to me to take care of them, so I did that. 2 more days, I did absolutely nothing. On the last day, my family was healed. I survived the vacation without getting sick. I learned that we don’t need to go everywhere or see anything on vacation. What matters is spending time with my family. Nothing else could EVER top that.
