Stargazing

By Mizy, Age 11

A book that I feel finally seen in is Stargazing because I can relate to the character, Christine. Christine, like me, is Asian American and has strict parents. She faces many challenges, like trying to be perfect, have good grades, and excel. And I can relate to this because those are also some things that I’m always trying to do. In the book, her grades drop, and she panics and starts studying even more, like how I would react to that situation. And at one point, her new friend Moon starts getting more attention from Christine’s friends, and this makes Christine very upset, like how I felt at times like this.

And on a positive note, Christine has Moon, just like I have my sister, friends, and family who are there to remind you that there is more happiness in things like dancing and having fun than just being perfect.

A lot of the things that happen in this book make me feel like the book can understand these feelings, and it makes me feel finally seen.
