Shady Branch To The Sunny Tree

By Vildan, age 10

One day people started talking about something called Covid-19. I was confused at first, I had no idea what it was and what it could do. Then I found out. I wasn’t really scared at first but then everything changed. We had to do online school, we had to wear masks, but the worst part was I couldn’t be with others like I used to. Once the virus got worse everyone was really protective.

It all started on a Saturday in Virginia. We had a 4 day weekend. TVs filled up with NEWS! My sister was going on a field trip on a very fancy bus the next week but…it got canceled. I felt like the world was over. I felt like I was alone. I felt like I couldn’t do anything. Because I COULDN’T do ANYTHING I wanted to do that year, every goal I wanted to achieve that year… was over. I wished every night it would stop. People kept getting sicker and sicker and there was no stopping it.

I met amazing friends and realized the world wasn’t over.

One year later, we moved to Texas and I was able to attend school. I met amazing friends and realized the world wasn’t over.
