Searching for the Elusive Toilet Paper
By Kathryn, Age 10
Who confiscated all the toilet paper? Relax! I’m here! During the pandemic, these excited utterances were made many times by my inspiring mother. The adventurous Queen Questalot, my mother, searched in all the stores for the “Holy Grail.” She stormed out like a knight on a crusade, armed with plastic gloves, a face mask, and disinfectant wipes. Upon returning home, she recounted her adventures to us. Additionally, we had to make our own bread because it was absent from the grocer’s shelves. Furthermore, my mom figured out each store’s restocking schedule. After devising a scheme to arrive early to stores to purchase restricted items, my mom began her quest. While shopping, my brother and I home-schooled with my grandmother, played on our iPads, watched TV, went swimming, or jumped on the trampoline. Finally, Queen Questalot succeeded in finding the toilet paper, and we all relished in her victory.
Not only did our mother teach us how to appreciate all the little necessities for a normal life, but she also provided us with the hope and stability for a brighter safer future.
