Route to Myself
By Viruthi, age 12
Over the months, I began to find myself staring at the bright lighted screen of the tv, slowly losing interest. When COVID first began, I would often come home from school, and run to the remote to turn on the news. But just as the months went by, the cases did as well. Schools shut down, and people started to shut themselves away from loved ones. I stood watching, as all my friends had to say goodbye, and say hello to online life.
I never really thought, a dangerous and deadly contagious virus would be the main thing in 2020. As much as I can remember, I was hoping for a productive year, but I was presented with disappointment. All of us were. But some of us chose to think of this as a productive thing. On a late night, as I was snuggled up under my sheets, my eyes getting heavy, I thought of something. What if… What if this were a time for everyone to just reset. Reset as in, change for the better. We go on about our lives, not thinking back about how we are doing physically and mentally.
What if this were a time for everyone to just reset. Reset as in, change for the better.
