Pool day

By Freddie, age 12

Yay! Two weeks off of school! I am so excited. Little did I know that those two weeks would turn into months. Fast forward to the summer a few months later, it is June 2020, and the new pool just opened. I was very excited but also a little nervous. I didn’t know if we would have to wear our masks in the pool. If you wanted to go to the pool, you would have to book it for the morning or afternoon with only a few other people.

I could smell the chlorine and feel the warm heat on my face. I finally could see some of my friends.

We arrived at the pool after we had booked a good time to go. I could smell the chlorine and feel the warm heat on my face. I finally could see some of my friends. After I put on sunscreen I jumped the highest I could and did a cannonball right into the cold pool. It felt like I was floating. I had not felt the feeling of being in a pool in months! I had stayed at the pool for the rest of the day, and I think I would’ve really regretted it if I didn’t.
