Pandemic story

By Alexandra, Age 11

“Covid-19 is spreading, and now quarantine, masks, social distancing are the new parameters,” The news reporter shouts over the TV, “Stay home and stay safe.” Tears drip down my face. I can’t take it anymore. March 13, 2020. I will never forget that day. That was the day everything went sideways. No, upside down times a million. I will never forget that day. Skipping school seems fun at first. Going to your grandma’s house is fun too. But on that day, March 13, we found out about covid causing schools to shut down. But it was only for three weeks. We were going to be okay! Three weeks turned into Four. Four turned into five, six, seven, etc. We were out for the school year. But it doesn’t stop there. Instead of elementary school graduation, we were quarantined. Orientation? Quarantined. The world, as we knew it, was quarantined. Almost two years after March 13, 2020, I am in 6th grade. Friends and family staying home for two to three weeks because of covid is the new normal. It’s not a good normal, but by now, we’re
used to it.

But throughout all this, I stayed connected by being positive and finding better WIFI.
