“HANEUL!” Dad yelled as I sat up on my bunk bed. “What’s wrong?” I mumbled. “HANEUL!!” Dad yelled. “I’m awake,” I yelled back lazily. “BREAKFAST!!!” Dad yelled back. Huh?
It was Monday and dad had told me that I didn’t have school today. I climbed down the stairs and went to the kitchen table. Dad was right there, his eyes fixed on what used to be my mom’s laptop. I munched on a toast while dad fiddled with the laptop.
“Why did you wake me up so early? I thought we weren’t going to school today because of some virus.” I asked. “ You’re not going to school. You can’t. Starting today, you have to do meetings with your teacher and friends. You will have some paper for your other assignments.” Dad said. WHA? I almost choked on my toast. “Alright, time for you to do your meeting!” Dad said cheerfully. “HARANG!!!” Dad yelled, calling for my younger brother.
“Haneul, you have to press this button at 8:30 to go to your Zoom class. Ok?” Dad asked. I took the laptop, carried it to my room, and plugged in the charger.
The first day of virtual learning was here.
