My Covid Story

By Annalise, Age 12

Life has changed so much since covid-19 started. One of the big changes was schools being shut down. For me it didn’t change much, I was homeschooled up through 4th grade, so during the start of covid, my education continued as normal. But for someone like my friend, things were different. It just so happened, that on the day the schools shut down, and sent kids home, I had a playdate with one of my friends. As my mom drove me to my friend’s house, I was happy. When I got there, my friend ran out of her house, she was so excited. I asked her what had happened, she told me “I’m going to be homeschooled like you!” I was so excited! I didn’t have many friends that were homeschooled and to be able to share this experience was cool.

This was a hopeful moment for me because, despite the uncertainty and worry of the new virus, I found a spark of hope through my friend’s excitement of being homeschooled like me.
