Learning, Laughing, and Staying Inside

By Zella, age 11

When the pandemic started, I was excited. I thought that the pandemic meant that for a bit, I would get to do online school. Unbeknownst to me, the pandemic was going to last for a lot longer than I thought. Thankfully, a month before the pandemic reached the U.S, my family got a puppy. Her name is Violet, and she’s an adorable Pekinese, Maltese, and Poodle mix. She’s helped me enjoy time in lockdown and is wonderful.

My family has found ways to connect with each other even though the pandemic has limited interaction.

My family has found ways to connect with each other even though the pandemic has limited interaction. For example, before vaccines came out my grandma would come over and we’d put a table in the garage and eat there instead of inside. The funny part is that while we were eating, flies would come to the table and we were constantly trying to get them away from us! I’m also very grateful that we have the internet, because without it, it would be very difficult to communicate with people. Also, I did all of fourth grade online. The internet has helped tremendously. My hope is that after the pandemic, people will realize that sometimes, we’re a lot more lucky than we think.
