Inside Out and Back Again
By Scarlet, Age 12
All of us are unique. All of us were handcrafted beautifully, time was taken into creating our each and every detail. However, no matter your ethnicity, race, height, or orientation, we were all created equal. Most of us want to be finally seen, and want to be appreciated like any other human being. It is an uplifting feeling when you find yourself represented in a book, and I felt just this when I read Inside Out and Back Again. Although the main character Ha and I are different in many ways, I still felt represented as an Asian. When Ha was teased for talking weirdly and for her culture, I related with my own experiences. This book brought out the amazing and not so amazing aspects of being Asian. Personally, this book hit deep because of the similarities of Ha’s culture and mine.
