How Writing Kept Me Motivated

By Lana, age 11

“I’m starting to get bored with this whole pandemic thing.”

“Same, and I’m so mad they made it longer than the two weeks!”

“I don’t know what to do anymore. All this is so boring.”

“Why don’t you try and write a story? That’s what I’ve been doing a lot lately.” That’s the last thing my friend said to me before she got called to dinner. Story writing? Sounds interesting. Maybe I should give it a shot. What would I write about though?  Maybe my perspective on life right now. I think that would be a good idea. So finally, after coming up with a good idea, I grabbed out an old notebook. I found myself writing for hours even though it only felt like 10 minutes!!! But I honestly really enjoyed it! Maybe because there was so much to  write about, or because I just found a new hobby! Truthfully, though, writing really only taught me one thing- write even if you can’t find something to write about.

Write even if you can’t find something to write about. How else would your story keep going?

How would your story keep going if you didn’t continue to write it?
