Goodbye and hello
By Ava, age 10
I walked out of school not knowing it would be my last day, ever. I was moving that summer.
“Mom, guess what? I was quiet and responsible at dismissal so I get lunch in the classroom tomorrow!” I told my mom in excitement.
“That’s great,” said Mom.
……
In the morning I woke up to find a note by my bed. It’s from my mom and it says,
“You don’t have school today, but don’t worry you will get your lunch in the classroom.”
“Okay,” I thought to myself.
And the weekend went on and we found out that school was canceled for four weeks! Then it was canceled for the rest of the year! I knew I’d never go back to school there again. I was moving soon so I would have to say goodbye to my friends and say hello to new ones. It’s always hard moving for me and the pandemic makes it harder. But I made some of the best friends in the world here. Life is hard sometimes but you just have to keep going and never give up. But one thing I know is there’s always a new adventure around the corner for me.
