Finding the light in dark times
By Tinley, age 10
My life was somewhat rough last year. I was in 4th grade and was super obsessed with reading. I decided to participate in Battle of the Books and that was the first time I read a book written by Kelly Yang. That’s when I found Front desk and got obsessed.
This helped me deal with all the things that were going on like my cousin getting cancer and that was hard because he is a really great friend. Her books helped me find a good reason to be happy even when times were incredibly hard.
During this time I lost my beloved great grandma and my great grandfather. It was really hard for my nan. So that made my family stronger because we knew even in hard times we can always find a light in the dark.
We knew even in hard times we can always find a light in the dark.
When I found out that my cousin’s cancer was growing it upset me and it inspired me to start working to donate to our community, like Saint Jude. We raised over 300 dollars for their research. It was hard but Saint Jude has helped so many children including paying hospital bills so children can get better.
