Drifting Six Feet Away
By Sofia, Age 11
I can remember when I was in third grade, me and my best friend of 9 years were pulled apart when covid started and we had to go on lockdown. We didn’t have online Zoom calls but instead computer work. While I was at home, I was starting to get very depressed because I couldn’t see her and I was lonely. I continued to get lazy and fall behind on work. When I moved onto 4th grade, which was actually at school, we weren’t in the same class. I started to forget about her when I was with my other friends. Fourth grade was boring for me and I started to hate school because it wasn’t as fun as it used to be. When we heard the news that we were gonna be in the same fifth grade class, I got very excited. Now we sit beside each other and I am typing this while at school and she’s sitting beside me. This class is the best I’ve ever had.
