Drawing Eyes

By Anna, age 10

Online learning was hard, especially when you just started a week ago. I just came back from sledding, so I was messing around on my laptop. *Knock, knock* “Yes?” I answered. The door opens and my mom appears. “Hey, I brought you some food.” My mom says. “Thanks, mom.” I replied. But then… CLICK! Something in my mind made me focus on my mom’s eyes. They were like dark chocolate. I zoned out but my mom snapped me back to reality. “Hello?” “Oh! Sorry. Just zoned out” I replied. “Well, enjoy the food.” “Thanks, bye!” I said. She shut the door. I faced my laptop. Why did I zone out? I got out my stylist and out of nowhere, started sketching. First an oval, then the iris. Soon, a pupil. I wasn’t controlling my hand anymore. It had a mind of its own.

Afterward, I stared at the screen. I never knew I was good at drawing eyes! And from that day on, it was a hobby of mine. I even wrote a story based off of it! But that day, I never knew why I just clicked, and I have a feeling that I may never know.
