COVID’s Wrath

By Yughan, age 10

My COVID-19 Pandemic Story means a lot to me. The first few months I thought COVID-19 was nothing, it felt like it was a regular cold to me. Then I realized how terrifying it was, still, I thought “COVID-19 is nothing!” I could withstand it but I realized I had lost someone from my family I never actually knew that I had lost. One of the most important in my family, a person to introduce me to my soon to be, future career—a gamer.

Before I knew it, I was eating half a cupcake instead of cake.

Two months later, September 2020,  my great-grandfather died, not due to COVID though, it was due to, well—age I guess. I truly missed him, only that’s when I realized that I lost two people in my family. The rest of the year, October 2020 – February 2021, I was fine until my 9th Birthday. During that time, both COVID-19 and the Winter Snow Storm interrupted my birthday. Before I knew it, I was eating half a cupcake instead of cake.

Eight months later, my family got Mild COVID and we were staying home for my brother’s birthday. I didn’t go to school for two weeks and stayed home. It’s hope that got us through it all.
