Covid vacation
By Amrita, Age 10
I remember the day when my family and I were watching the News, waiting for the 5 to 11 covid-19 vaccine to be approved. My family was waiting for months for the vaccine, and finally, I could get it! I got my vaccination, and felt confident and protected. Since I got my vaccination, and winter break was approaching, we wanted to go on vacation and meet our cousins. However, on the third day, it felt nothing like a vacation. Everyone, including my family and cousins, felt sick. Really sick. “It’s nothing,” we all thought. But when we took the covid test that day, it didn’t seem like anything. The result was positive. I remember the minute when my sister and I broke down into tears fearing what would happen. “It’ll be okay,” my parents said. What my parents said was true, it was okay. We recovered, feeling very strong, knowing that if we could get through this, we could get over anything.
While it didn’t end up being the best vacation ever, it sure was an experience and I think everyone in my family learned a little something about determination and having hope, even in hard times.
