Covid story
By Monet, Age 9
“Monet!” Papi yelled from the living room.
“What?” I yelled back.
“We’re moving,” he said.
“Wait what?” I said.
A few months later…
“Monet!” Papi shouted from the living room.
“Yeah?” I shouted back from my room.
“Come over here and take a seat.”
“Okay,” I said walking into the living room and plopping on the couch. When I had sat down Papi began to speak.
“We have to wear masks around other people,” he said.
“What? Why?” I asked.
“There’s a pandemic going around. It’s called COVID-19,” he said.
“How long will it last?” I asked.
“Who knows,” Papi said. “There’s a break from school right now,” he said.
“Well, I’m happy about that,” I said.
“Thought you would be,” he said.
“Well, we don’t have masks,” I realized out loud.
“We ordered some,” he said.
A couple of months later…
“This virus is never going to end,” I complained.
“Feels like that, huh?” Papi said.
“Yep,” I said.
One year went by…
“Hey, you know what’s funny,” I said.
“What?” Mama and Papi asked.
“We moved in right before the virus!”
I guess that’s just me trying to see the better side of things!
