Christmas in a pandemic
By Janessa, age 12
It was December 24, 2021 the morning before Christmas. My dad woke up saying, “Oh I think I might have a sinus infection.” Then my mom said, “You should get tested since we’re hosting Christmas.” The results were in just 15 minutes. He was positive! We all were so bummed that we couldn’t celebrate with our family. We ended up wearing our masks and opening our presents.
It was different, but it was still good!
It was different, but it was still good!
Three weeks later we were free and healthy. You’ll never believe what happened next! My mom woke up and said, “I have a bit of a scratchy throat.” She went to take a test which came back negative. So she went to work and I went to my grandpa’s house, but I had a horrible headache and I took three naps. The next day, my mom called in sick and they sent her to get tested. She tested positive! Soon, my older sister and I both tested positive too! My brother and dad were fine. My brother even slept outside in a tent for a couple days to avoid the virus! Finally we were better, until my brother’s test three weeks later!
