Baking Up Hope

By Jovie, Age 11

The day we learned about the pandemic I thought it would be over soon. Like, two weeks soon. It’s been two years. During this time, I have obtained a hobby, baking. I love baking. It helped take my mind off of covid because it took so much concentration.

Baking gave me  inspiration because even though we couldn’t leave the house, I could make my family happy by making something good for them.

Baking gave me  inspiration because even though we couldn’t leave the house, I could make my family happy by making something good for them. It’s awesome! You get to make a mixture of a bunch of tasty things and make something amazing, like making a chocolate cake. You have to mix cocoa powder and flour and a bunch of other ingredients, and then you get something delicious. And cookies, with the chewy middle and crunchy chocolate chips…the wonderful peanut butter with powdered sugar on top. One time, I made this thing where you just mix honey and honey nut cheerios–it tastes delicious! Hopefully it’s less than two more years before the pandemic ends.
