Baby in a Pandemic
By Juliana, Age 10
I first heard about COVID when I was in 3rd grade. After spring break, we had to do online
classes. I was super bummed out. But something else happened that changed me, and my
family’s lives: my mom was pregnant. I was stressed out with so many things. Will COVID end?
Will my mom handle giving birth? I never knew the answers to any of those questions. Nine
months later my mom was going to the hospital to get a c-section. My dad was going to go with
her. They were going to stay there for three days. I was really going to miss my mom and my dad.
Three days later, I finally got to see my baby brother. I cried for 10 minutes straight while
looking at him. A few hours later, I was picking out names while my mom was feeding my
brother. COVID completely slipped my mind. I kept dancing around happily even though my
parents were getting annoyed.
I felt like I was the happiest person in the world at that time. I
just got a new sibling!
