A quarantine birthday

By Boden, age 11

The pandemic started around two weeks before my birthday. I was told we would only stay home for a couple weeks, then we could go back to normal hopefully before my birthday.

I thought it would be fun because I would be able to play the Xbox I got for Christmas. I realized other people were not as excited as me once I saw the news.

I thought it would be fun because I would be able to play the Xbox I got for Christmas. I realized other people were not as excited as me once I saw the news. I saw that other countries were getting hit hard with Covid, with thousands of people dying everyday. I even saw how cruise ships were still in the water with Covid spreading through them. By the time it reached my birthday, we were still in quarantine.

We started zooming in the beginning of April. School work was hard for me because I wasn’t used to google classroom or zoom. We ended the school year over zoom and I was finally free. I was able to go to the pool that summer and see some of my friends. Once 5th grade started, we could go back to school for half the week then go virtual for the other half. After around 4 months of back and forth school, we went back to school.
