A New World

Covid. A thing that sadly we all have lived through. I think that Covid is the worst thing in the world! Because of Covid, I couldn’t see my mom’s side of the family in the Dominican Republic for two years. This was the worst thing ever. I was really close to them, and the pandemic changed that. We finally got to go back in December and it was the best feeling ever! Not being able to see them for so long really made me rely more on my friends. But the tricky part was not being able to see my friends either.

That is why I retreated to reading. Being able to escape to another world. Feeling free. I asked my  EC teacher for book recommendations. She is the biggest reader in the world. (EC is the Extended Curriculum class where you learn things from higher grades). The first book she recommended was “Front Desk.” I devoured the first book and loved the whole series. She even bought two copies of “Room to Dream,” so both of us could read it at the same time. It was a very loved book. I might have read it more than one time. Reading is my escape.
