A better year

By Sara, age 10

Before COVID-19, I had no idea what Zoom or Google Meet was. Or blue light glasses, or an elbow bump, the list could go on forever. I don’t even think I knew what the word quarantine meant! I had to get used to carrying a mask with me wherever I go, or staying 6 feet from all of my friends. Now I am so comfortable I can’t go ANYWHERE without a mask in my pocket!

Now I am so comfortable I can’t go ANYWHERE without a mask in my pocket!

Everybody said 2020 was the worst year. We all went into 2021 thinking it was going to be a better, luckier year. So of course, the virus was like, “How about no!” 2021 ended up being just like 2020.

So now everybody thinks 2022 will be the final year. It’s hard not to. We are all back in school after a lot longer than “2 weeks!”. Most of the kids in my school are vaccinated and on March 1st of 2022 masks are no longer required in my school! This is a huge difference from the year of my mom getting toilet paper and masks from work, and the year of Zoom! We will keep on hoping that 2022 will not be like 2020 and 2021.
